Automatic and manual lensmeters
Repair, calibration and certification of Lensmeters
Automatic and manual lensmeters
We carry out the verification on any type of lensmeter, both manual and automatic, we issue a certificate with the list of the measurements performed and the set of certified lenses used. If the tool highlights critical issues, they will be reported and, if possible, a quote for the recovery will be communicated.
If European regulations for consumer protection become stringent, who then protects opticians? How can you help the optician to be sure that the instruments are precisely calibrated?
Whether you have traditional or advanced instrumentation a perfect instrument does not exist. After the entry into force of the European legislation for class 1 and 2 medical devices (eyeglasses and contact lenses), the optometrist becomes the first responsible for the products he produces and markets.
Hence the need to have checks with stable reference samples that allow each optician to offer, on the one hand, optically excellent lenses and, on the other, to demonstrate the precision and reliability of the instrumentation in the event of disputes and complaints. The legislation now in force for consumer protection assumes that the accuracy and reliability of the instrument must be demonstrated.
It must become a good habit for the optician to have the accuracy of such an important instrument as the lensmeter checked periodically. We can carry out the verification both in the laboratory and at home and we issue a document certifying the accuracy of the instrument. The verification is performed with lenses certified by the CNR National Institute of Optics of Florence,
CNR certified set of lenses
Alongside the set of test lenses certified by the CNR Istituto di Ottica of Florence which are used for checks on lensmeters. The set of verification lenses also has 4 prismatic lenses of diopters 2, 10, 15, 20. This complies with ISO standards. In particular ISO 9342-1:2005 which certifies the characteristics of the lenses that make up the calibration set that control the lens measuring instruments. All ISO certified optical centers must carry out periodic inspections.
